Traveling this Labor Day? Use Sprint Navigation to Find Your Way

If you’re a customer of our carrier partner Sprint and plan on traveling this Labor Day weekend, you should consider using Sprint Navigation (powered by TeleNav) on your phone to guide you to your destination and also help you find your way around once you arrive. The application transforms your Sprint phone into a lean, mean, navigation machine and brings the features of a personal navigation device right to your phone. Better yet, it’s now available on more phones than ever before. Sprint announced today that Sprint Navigation is available on more than 60 Sprint phones, including the popular Palm Pre, one of my personal favorite devices that launched this summer.

A few of the Sprint Navigation features you’ll be able to use on your trip this weekend include:

  • Voice and on-screen turn-by-turn directions complete with 2D and 3D maps to guide you to wherever you may be traveling this weekend
  • Traffic alerts with one-click rerouting to help you avoid the congested roadways expected this Labor Day weekend and get you to your destination as quickly and stress-free as possible
  • Real-time gas price listings help you find the cheapest gas prices along your route, helping you save a few bucks to buy that “I visited Branson and lived to tell about it” T-shirt you’ve always wanted
  • More than 10 million business listings to help you find restaurants, hotels or nightlife spots along the way or when you arrive at your vacation destination
  • Pre-plan your trip online to find all of the locations you want to visit during your vacation and instantly send the information to your phone so it’s there and ready to go as soon as you start up the car

You don’t have to rely solely on my word about how much Sprint Navigation can help you this Labor Day weekend and in your daily lives. After all, I might be a little biased. Today’s announcement includes quotes from three Sprint customers who use Sprint Navigation on their phones to help them do everything from streaming turn-by-turn directions through their vehicle while listening to Pandora at the same time to finding a new route around unexpected construction in a familiar area. James Kendrick of the popular tech blog JKOnTheRun also weighed in on his experience with Sprint Navigation on the Palm Pre, saying the app works just as well as a personal navigation device.

So, if you’re a Sprint customer and looking for an app to add a little guidance to your life this Labor Day weekend and beyond, check out Sprint Navigation. We’d love to hear your stories on how you used Sprint Navigation during your trip.

Why stop now? Palm Pre Week Continues

Why stop a good thing, right? All week we’ve been giving away car kits (dashboard mount and car charger for the Palm Pre) to the first person who correctly answers a question about Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav. We’re caught up in all the excitement surrounding the Pre and can’t bring ourselves to end the daily contest just yet.

If you haven’t seen the early reviews, the Palm Pre and Sprint Navigation application have been getting the thumbs up from many of the top reviewers at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Engadget to name a few. As we mentioned yesterday, the Palm Pre supports Sprint Navigation, which leads us to today’s question. The first person to comment on this blog with the correct answer to the following Sprint Navigation question wins. And here it is:

  1. If you purchase your Pre with Sprint’s Simply Everything plan, how much will you have to pay for Sprint Navigation?

Good luck!

Palm Pre Week Continues!

As we anxiously countdown to Sprint’s launch of the Palm Pre this coming Saturday, we’re continuing Palm Pre Week here on the TeleNav blog. As we mentioned yesterday, those of you who are lucky enough to get your hands on a Pre will have access to Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav. That means access to turn-by-turn directions, millions of business listings and traffic information right on your Pre.

Just like yesterday, today we’re giving away a car kit (dashboard mount and car charger for the Pre) to the first person who correctly answers a question regarding Sprint Navigation.

The first person to comment on this blog with the correct answer to the following Sprint Navigation question wins. And here it is:

  1. If you were to travel from Sprint’s headquarters to TeleNav’s headquarters, what two cities would you have to enter into Sprint Navigation to receive turn-by-turn directions to make the trip

Good luck!

It’s Sprint Palm Pre week! We’re as excited as all of you for the Pre to go on sale this Saturday. Once it’s available, many more of you will now have access to Sprint Navigation, powered by TeleNav, and we can’t wait to get your feedback.

So we thought we’d have a little fun in advance as we all wait patiently (this guy longer than others) for the big day.

Each day this week we’re going to give away a car kit (dashboard mount and car charger for your new Pre) to the first person who answers a Sprint Navigation Trivia Question.

Since we just thought of this today, we were busy coming up with great ideas yesterday, we are going to give away TWO today to catch up.

The first person to comment on this blog with the correct answer to the following two Sprint Navigation questions wins. (To be fair, we’re only giving away one per person so please only answer one.)

1. What is the Sprint web site (URL) for getting more information on Sprint Navigation, planning trips, etc.?

2. According to that web site, how many phones currently support Sprint Navigation?

Good luck!
