Consumer Navigation Application of the Year, AT&T Navigator, in action on the Nokia E71x

Just two weeks ago we were patting ourselves on the back for being named Best Mobile Resource Management Solution on a Handheld Device by respected industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan. While we always remain humble and maintain a fervent drive to improve our products, we thought we would take time out to give ourselves and partner AT&T one more pat on the back as it’s been announced that AT&T Navigator (powered by TeleNav) was selected by Frost & Sullivan as the Consumer Navigation Application of the Year.

AT&T Navigator puts an array of capabilities at your fingertips and is far more than just turn-by-turn directions and a map. Available on a number of AT&T devices, some features of AT&T Navigator include:

  • Speech Recognition – with the simple push of a button you can speak the address or business name and AT&T Navigator will provide voice and on-screen turn-by-turn directions to your destination.
  • Biz Finder - can’t find the best sushi restaurant in town? Don’t worry, AT&T Navigator has more than 10 million business listings complete with reviews and ratings.
  • Daily Gas Prices – with the summer season upon us and gas prices climbing, one great feature of AT&T Navigator is the ability to receive gas price information at stations around your current location.
  • Global Information – AT&T Navigator Global Edition provides 3D Maps of the United States, Mexico and Canada and Icon-mode navigation in Western Europe and China. This edition also supports a number of languages including U.S. English, UK English, Italian, German and Spanish.

We’re pleased that Frost & Sullivan has recognized AT&T Navigator with this award and we’re excited to be powering AT&T’s best selling application. As more phones feature AT&T Navigator, we’re hopeful that users will continue to see the benefits a connected navigation application offers to them.

In another positive piece of news, Frost & Sullivan predicts that U.S. carrier-generated annual revenues for location-based applications will reach approximately $3.3 billion in the consumer sector by 2013. It’s an exciting time for the location based industry and this fast paced growth and innovation are sure to benefit you. What location services would you like to see come to fruition in the coming years?

Frost & Sullivan Names TeleNav Track Best Mobile Resource Management Solution on a Handheld Device

Does it drive you crazy when a delivery or service company gives you a five hour timeframe for when they will show up at your house? Well, if you thought you loved us before, get a load of us now … TeleNav has developed a technology called TeleNav Track that helps companies better manage mobile workers so they can work more efficiently and better track their locations using their mobile phones. This makes everyone’s lives a little easier as shipments can be tracked better, companies can easily be made aware of their workers’ locations and the mobile workforce can complete timecards, business orders and more without having to make a trip into the office.

TeleNav Track is used by thousands of organizations from local HVAC companies like One Hour Air and Conditioning, to government departments like the City of New York, to large enterprise companies like CR England.

Last night, we were thrilled to find out that industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan named our TeleNav Track solution as the ‘Best Mobile Resource Management (MRM) Solution on a Handheld Device’ as part of its 2009 North American Mobility Awards. This is the second year in a row TeleNav Track has won the award.

It’s clear TeleNav Track has really impressed Frost & Sullivan’s analysts. Research analyst Jeanine Sterling explained why she felt TeleNav Track was the best solution, saying, “In our side by side comparisons, TeleNav Track clearly offers the most robust functionality . . .” We’re looking forward to impressing the analysts again for next year’s awards.

If you’re a business owner with a mobile workforce, check out TeleNav Track and learn more about how it can reduce your costs and improve your workers’ efficiency. For those of you who have received those long delivery or service setup windows, you might want to suggest they use TeleNav Track to give you a better experience.

Frost & Sullivan Helps You Select an MRM Solution

Frost_sullivan_logoWe’ve shared many case studies on this blog of how companies of all sizes are using GPS on cell phones to improve their overall operations.

Despite all the success stories we’ve posted, you may still be unsure of how GPS solutions like TeleNav Track could help your business or what to consider when looking at the various options available.

Last week, industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan issued a paper called "Maximizing ROI with MRM: Selecting the Right Mobile Resource Management Solution" and it may be a tool that can help you sort out any questions you have if you are considering an MRM solution like TeleNav Track.

The paper defines four key MRM purchase criteria and then uses that criteria to compare various options (including TeleNav Track). The paper also provides more information on the ROI that organizations are experiencing with MRM, including reduced fuel and labor costs and improved job completion rates.

Frost & Sullivan finds MRM so compelling that it forecasts over 11 million MRM users in the U.S. alone by 2013 … which means if you aren’t using an MRM solution, your competitors may get a leg up.

As the press release states, you can get a copy of this paper for free by emailing Frost & Sullivan directly. The contact person is Mireya Castilla and her email address is mireya.castilla@frost.com.
