    SouthernLINC Wireless Launches TeleNav Track

    Monday, July 21st, 2008

Author—Mary Beth Lowell - Communications Manager

SouthernLINC Wireless announced today that it is now offering TeleNav Track to business and public sector customers.

Regional wireless carrier SouthernLINC is based in Atlanta. Its wireless coverage includes the major metropolitan and rural areas in Alabama, Georgia, southeastern Mississippi and northwest Florida.

Here is a link to the press release.

TeleNav Track is now available through three wireless carriers, as Sprint and AT&T also offer the solution to their business and government customers.

Thousands of organizations across the country are using the service to improve operations, efficiency and customer service. For example, as noted in the SouthernLINC press release, the Alabama Dept. of Human Resources has been using TeleNav Track to allow its social workers to respond to clients more quickly.

Another customer, National Exterminating Company, was highlighted over the weekend in the Daily Press in Roanoke, Virginia. National Exterminating Company has been using TeleNav Track to improve productivity. Among other things, it has allowed the company to save money on fuel, something that HP and Sal have both mentioned as Track benefits in recent posts.

If you’re curious, we have even more case studies of business and govt. organizations who have seen dramatic ROI through GPS on their cell phones.

GPS - The (Not So) Secret Sauce for Competitive Businesses

    Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Author—H.P. Jin- President, CEO and Co-Founder

Secret_sauceWhen you think of GPS applications, you may think of navigation, child tracking, outdoor activities and maybe even criminal monitoring. You may not, however, think of businesses using GPS services. That’s because what we often see in the news or on our favorite TV show are people using GPS to drive, catch bad guys or find loved ones.

While we certainly love the fact that GPS services like TeleNav GPS Navigator are becoming more mainstream on cell phones (this was our initial vision when starting TeleNav), it has been a well-kept secret for several years that many businesses are using GPS technologies as well.

The good news, from my perspective, is that this "secret" is starting to get more industry and media attention. For example, just this week, ABI Research published a report stating that over the next five years, an increasing number of enterprise organizations will deploy mobile solutions to "reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve customer service."

This report is no surprise to us since we have provided enterprise organizations with TeleNav Track and TeleNav GPS Navigator for several years. Even before the current increase in gas prices, many companies discovered immediate ROI with GPS solutions as it quickly and easily allowed them to improve operations and customer satisfaction. As Sal mentioned in his post earlier this week, with gas prices now on the rise, companies have an even bigger incentive to analyze their operations and determine if GPS can help keep costs down during this turbulent economy.

GPS is helping many companies - small and large - save money, improve customer service and stay competitive. So the secret is out and my question to you is, are you making the most of GPS in your business?

Companies Use GPS to Save Gas

    Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Author—Sal Dhanani - Co-Founder and Sr. Director of Marketing

Tnt_pctracking_monitor_3As a consumer, you are no doubt feeling the hit to your wallet as gas prices continue to increase. But it’s not only consumers that have had to rethink their budgets - many businesses and government organizations have had to evaluate their operations costs in order minimize the impact of the "pain at the pump."

Believe it or not, many organizations are turning to GPS technology as a tool for saving gas. There are three main ways that GPS can help do this:

    1. Better dispatch/route mobile workers by knowing where they are all at during the day and optimizing their travel
    2. Give your mobile workers GPS navigation so they use the shortest routes and don’t get lost; our service also includes daily gas price listings so your employees can find the closest station with the cheapest gas
    3. Make sure your employees are not using company vehicles for personal errands

Newsday in New York ran an interesting story today on how some organizations in NY are using GPS to save on gas. Some of the customers profiled are TeleNav Track customers.

In fact, by using a GPS service like TeleNav Track, studies show that organizations can reduce fuel costs by an average of 13.2% (source: Aberdeen Group).

Motorola published a survey recently with similar findings. 50% of the organizations using GPS technology said that saving on gas was the most dramatic result of using the service.

If you’re a manager or business owner with a certain number of mobile workers, you should consider how GPS may help your company save on gas prices. As consumers, we will also reap the benefits since the price of gas for businesses impacts how much we pay for what those businesses produce.
