TeleNav Launches GPS Navigation with U.S. Cellular
Jul 9th
If you’re a U.S. Cellular customer and are headed out to pick up the new Samsung Acclaim today, you are in for a special treat.
Today, U.S. Cellular and TeleNav announced that we have teamed up to launch Your Navigator Deluxe, a new GPS navigation service available on multiple U.S. Cellular smartphones which include:
- Samsung Acclaim
- HTC Touch
- HTC Touch Pro
- HTC Touch Pro 2
- HTC Snap
- BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630
- BlackBerry® Pearl Flip™ 8230
- BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530
- Samsung i225.
But that’s not all. We’re excited to announce that Your Navigator Deluxe is bundled into U.S. Cellular’s new Smartphone Data plans which are $30 per month. There is no separate subscription fee for the navigation service.
So, what will you get with Your Navigator Deluxe? GPS navigation at its best (if we do say so ourselves). It includes a bunch of features like:
- 3D turn-by-turn navigation
- Speech recognition
- Traffic rerouting
- More than 12 million business listings
- Restaurant reviews
- Daily gas prices
- Weather information
- Integration with email/contacts/calendars
- An online trip preplanning site (http://uscc.telenav.com).
… and this is all available as part of your new data plan!
We know that pictures (better yet, video) tell a thousand words so we shot this demo video so you can see for yourselves just what you’ll get when you pick up your Acclaim today.
Once you do, try out the service and let us know what you think!
Try Whereboutz, Give us Feedback and You Have a Chance to Win a $500 VISA Gift Card!
May 12th
If you’re like I am, you may have added many “friends” on Facebook who are actually more acquaintances at best. It’s nice to see what people are up to, but it’s not always a place where you want to share everything with everybody. And although Facebook has added privacy filters, it’s not always easy nor convenient to upload a picture or share your thoughts with just a few select people on your friend list.
This is why TeleNav has launched Whereboutz. Whereboutz is a place where you can go and share pictures, videos, your thoughts and your location with a very private group of friends or family members. It is, by default, private. You can share things both from the website and from the free iPhone app. With the iPhone app, you can take a picture, shoot a video and update your status, all at once. It even adds your location into your update automatically so your family and friends can easily see where you were when you took that picture or shot a video. It’s very easy to use and it allows you the ability to share your memories and travels with a close network of people – confident that you don’t have to worry about privacy.
With Whereboutz, we don’t want to replace your current social networks. Rather, Whereboutz is great for those who travel and want to keep a geoblog of their journeys (demo account here). It’s also great for people with kids or other family members who want to share images and videos but only with a few people (demo account here). If you want, you can connect it with your Facebook and Twitter accounts but you also have the option of just keeping things private with a smaller group of people.
We invite you to try Whereboutz and let us know what you think. Sign up now for a free account, give us your feedback, and you’ll automatically be entered in a drawing to win a $500 VISA gift card (full details here). All we ask is that you try it out and let us know what you think!

5 Things About Me with TeleNav’s New Social Media Guy
Nov 9th
The world is much more connected, isn’t it? Whether we’re typing messages in 140 characters on Twitter or throwing our favorite farm animals at each other on Facebook, it seems these social media websites have become very integrated into our daily lives. As such, here at TeleNav, we wanted to dedicate an entire role to handling our social media efforts and recently, we’ve done just that.
Please meet Kenji Onozawa, TeleNav’s new social media “guy.”
Outside of answering your questions and listening to your comments, part of Kenji’s role here will be to provide you with some behind-the-scenes TeleNav videos. As such, we thought what a better way to introduce him than put him in front of a Flipcam? And that’s exactly what we did.
