If you’re like I am, you may have added many “friends” on Facebook who are actually more acquaintances at best. It’s nice to see what people are up to, but it’s not always a place where you want to share everything with everybody. And although Facebook has added privacy filters, it’s not always easy nor convenient to upload a picture or share your thoughts with just a few select people on your friend list.

This is why TeleNav has launched Whereboutz. Whereboutz is a place where you can go and share pictures, videos, your thoughts and your location with a very private group of friends or family members. It is, by default, private. You can share things both from the website and from the free iPhone app. With the iPhone app, you can take a picture, shoot a video and update your status, all at once. It even adds your location into your update automatically so your family and friends can easily see where you were when you took that picture or shot a video. It’s very easy to use and it allows you the ability to share your memories and travels with a close network of people – confident that you don’t have to worry about privacy.

With Whereboutz, we don’t want to replace your current social networks. Rather, Whereboutz is great for those who travel and want to keep a geoblog of their journeys (demo account here).
