AT&T Navigator v1.5i Now Available for iPhone
Even though the holiday season has passed, it looks like the gifts keep on flowing for AT&T Navigator subscribers using an iPhone. AT&T Navigator v1.5i has just launched and provides a number of new features developed to make the navigation experience easier and more enjoyable for users. We’ve been listening to your feedback and have added new features and improvements based what users have said about the application. The app now includes:
- Speed Limit Display & Alerts: Navigation screen includes speed limit information and provides visual and audio alerts if the limit is exceeded
- Last Trip Origin: Once a trip is completed, users can easily return to the origin of their last trip by accessing the “Recent Places” menu
- Nighttime Maps: The brightness levels of map screens are adjusted for nighttime driving for easier viewing
- Improved Route Avoidance Options: Drivers may now choose to avoid routes that make use of high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes or choose to avoid routes that include toll roads
- Improved Pedestrian Mode: Users will be able to clearly identify when they are navigating in pedestrian mode with the introduction of a new pedestrian icon on the map screen
Oh, and I saved the best for last. Version 1.5i has a very unique feature called Shake-to-Go that allows users to simply shake their iPhone while using AT&T Navigator and they will automatically be routed to a location they have previously set as their home address. Any time you want to go home from your current location, it’s as easy as a few shakes of your iPhone.
We put together a brief video demo to show you the new features in action. Take a few minutes to check it out and then pick up your iPhone and download the update for yourself. If you’re not already using AT&T Navigator on your iPhone, it’s easy to download from the App store. It can be found in the free navigation applications section. Once downloaded, the application costs just $9.99/mos. (or you can purchase for $69.99/year) and is billed right to your monthly AT&T bill.
Now go out and enjoy AT&T Navigator v1.5i for your iPhone. We’d love to see you submit some video responses on our YouTube page showing us just how you like to Shake-to-Go with your iPhone. As an ode to the once popular rapper Mystikal, Shake your phone, show us what you’re working with!

With the addition of these features I have renewed my subscription!!! I have had TeleNav since my Blackberry 7510/20 days and last used it three years ago on my Blackberry 7100i and finally enjoy it on my iPhone… The only feature I miss from the old versions in the political subdivision lines that were present when you drove from one city, town, or borough to another… Please bring them back and keep up the great work!!!

Am unlocking my original iPhone and moving it to T-Mobile. Will I be able to download the program on an unlocked iPhone? Or, can I load it on my phone before I unlock it and still have it working afterwards?
Hi Bwarf3,
Telenav isn’t supported on unlocked phones. Some times it will work and sometimes it doesn’t.
Technically, the iPhone is only supported with AT&T Navigator, and when you move to T-mobile you would need to switch to TeleNav GPS Navigator (the iPhone doesn’t support TeleNav GPS Navigator). So you can leave AT&T Navigator on and see if it will work once it is with T-Mobile. If AT&T Navigator doesn’t work, you can try and download TeleNav but we can’t guarantee that it will work. And needless to say, this is not something we recommend.
Please email me if you have anymore questions: KenjiO at TeleNav dot com

Hi- I love the AT&T navigator on my iPhone but lately it’s been having trouble locating GPS position. Probably can only get it to work 25% if the time and even when it works it seems like it’s lagging. It never used to do that. I try rebooting the phone but it doesn’t help. Gokivo can’t locate it either so it may be an iPhone issue not the nav. Google maps doesn’t seem to have a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated I’m really bummed out it’s not working right cuz when it works it’s slammin!! Thank you in advance. -Paul

Paul – it sounds like there may be an issue with the GPS on your phone. You might try visiting a local Apple store to see if they can help troubleshoot.
