Ford Motor Company Selects TeleNav to Power In-Car GPS Navigation
Exciting news from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas!
We’ve announced that Ford has selected TeleNav’s navigation software to power its new version of Ford SYNC which is called “SYNC with Traffic, Directions and Information.”
If you’re not familiar with SYNC, check out the web site here. It is a Ford service that provides drivers the ability to operate various devices and services in their car by just using voice commands. These include accessing mp3 players, making phone calls and getting audible text messages.
Now, with the new version of SYNC, users now have hands-free access to personalized traffic reports, precise turn-by-turn directions, and up-to-date information such as business listings, news, sports and weather.
Customers use their Bluetooth-enabled phones to access the service. Once their phone is paired, SYNC allows customers to speak in addresses or business listings (more than 14 million included). They then receive voice and visual (on their radio face plate) turn-by-turn directions.
Customers can save up to 25 addresses online at www.syncmyride.com.
The service will be available later this year in select 2010 models and will roll out across the entire Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury lineup by 2011.
This is TeleNav’s first launch in the automotive space and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Ford to provide connected navigation in Ford vehicles.
