Worst Holiday Travel Trek

Author—Mary Beth Lowell – Communications Manager

airport travel

Forbes just released its list of “Worst Holiday Travel Treks.” From my own personal experience with Chicago O’Hare, I’m not surprised to see it listed as the top airport to avoid this holiday season. Thankfully (pun intended), I’ve never had to travel there during the Thanksgiving travel rush.

I thought the reporter’s research on “worst roads” was pretty interesting. Probably no surprise that LA freeways made the list. Driving around Seattle during anytime of year is hectic (shameless plug here for our  traffic service which saves me often) so my vote would be to add Seattle’s I-5 and I-405 to this list as well.

Alas, I am flying this Thanksgiving for the first time in many years … and dreading it a bit. But I think the best piece of advice is: pack your patience, your iPod and maybe a good book. Hey, at least you get a couple of days off work, right?

What would you list as the craziest places to drive during the holidays?

The Debate Around Vehicle GPS Tracking

Author—Sal Dhanani – Co-Founder and Sr. Director of Marketing

I’ve seen some debate lately around organizations using GPS to track their vehicles. This has become more common—both with government and private-sector organizations—and has helped reduce misuse of vehicles as well as improve overall operational productivity. Some bloggers have argued that, at least in the case of government vehicles, there should be no issue since this is considered public property. Others feel that GPS on vehicles may cause privacy concerns—for example, the  discussion around the use of GPS in taxis in NY.

One thing that I don’t think many people have considered is that GPS technology can help protect employees. For example, if an employee is falsely accused of speeding, a report can easily be generated show his/her true speed. GPS can also be a lifesaver when it comes to a stranded or lost vehicle.

What do you think? What other instances can you think of where GPS could benefit employees?

This quarter has been a really busy one for TeleNav already. But we can’t complain too much about the extra work because where else can you meet P. Diddy and San Francisco 49rs cheerleaders all in one night? Sound like a weird combo? Okay, it was two separate events but we have the pics to prove we were there!

In October, we joined AT&T in toasting Boy Genius at his anniversary party in the heart of Manhattan. The celebs were out in full force as Fabulous  serenaded the crowd and stars like P. Diddy walked the red carpet.

On the same night, we celebrated our recent successes at the CTIA wireless event in San Francisco. There to help cheer us on were two of the Gold Rush San Francisco squad members.

Now don’t you wish you worked at TeleNav?

We’re about serious business too though. In fact, at CTIA TeleNav also honored as one of Deloitte’s 50 fastest growing companies in wireless. We ranked #3 nationwide. With revenue growth of 16,666% from 2002-2006, we also ranked as #1 in the Deloitte’s Silicon Valley Internet, Media & Entertainment category.

All of this happened in Oct! I can’t wait to see what November and December will bring…
